Game Features and Bonuses
Layout: The game is played on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 40 fixed paylines, where wins are formed by landing matching symbols from left to right.
Special Symbols: The Mjolnir hammer acts as the Wild symbol, substituting for regular symbols and offering its own payouts. Thor appears as the Scatter, crucial for triggering bonus rounds. Lightning symbols in red, green, and purple are collected to activate modifiers.
Free Spins: The game features a Respins bonus round, starting with 5 respins on a 5x5 grid, which can expand to 7x7 with certain modifiers. During this round, only blanks, Coin, and Lightning symbols appear.
Bonus Rounds: The Respins bonus round is a Hold & Win style feature where a dynamic collection zone moves across the grid, gathering Coin and Lightning symbol prizes. Filling a meter by collecting Lightning symbols awards additional respins.
Unique Features: Lightning symbols can trigger modifiers: Red Lightning enables Gold versions of Coin and Lightning symbols for double prizes; Green Lightning expands the grid; Purple Lightning adds +1 spin to collected Lightning symbols. An Ante Bet option is also available to increase the chances of triggering the bonus round.
Gameplay Mechanics and Strategies
Unique Mechanics: Hammerstorm integrates a dynamic collection zone during its Respins bonus, which grows in size as Lightning symbols are collected. This moving zone differentiates it from traditional Hold & Win mechanics by actively collecting prizes within its area.
In-Game Dynamics: The base game focuses on regular payline wins, with the main excitement building towards triggering the Respins bonus through Thor Scatters and Lightning symbols. The extreme volatility means wins may be less frequent but potentially larger.
Player Strategy: While no strategy can alter the game's inherent RTP, players can manage their bet size according to their bankroll and risk tolerance. The Ante Bet feature offers a choice to increase the likelihood of triggering the bonus round, though it comes at an increased cost per spin.
