Game Features and Bonuses
Layout: The game features a 5-reel, 5-row grid with 15 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by landing matching symbols on these paylines.
Special Symbols: The game includes Wild Symbols that substitute for other symbols (except Scatter and VS Symbols) to help create winning combinations. VS Symbols act as Wilds and expand to cover entire reels, revealing two multipliers that duel, with the winning multiplier attaching to the expanded Wild.
Free Spins: There are two distinct Free Spins rounds. The "Struck Oil" Free Spins make all Wild Symbols sticky when they land. The "Contract Duel" Free Spins increase the frequency of VS Symbols appearing.
Bonus Rounds: The "Gusher" feature is a two-phase bonus. It starts with 3 respins on a special grid where only Wilds and Multipliers can land, resetting the spin counter. After respins, 3 free spins are awarded with collected Wilds moving across the grid and a total win multiplier.
Unique Features: Players have the option to use a Feature Buy mechanic to instantly trigger the Struck Oil, Contract Duel, or Gusher bonus games for a set price based on their current bet.
Gameplay Mechanics and Strategies
Unique Mechanics: THE Oil Barons distinguishes itself with its VS Symbols, which introduce a dueling multiplier mechanic, adding an element of chance to Wild expansions. The Gusher feature's two-phase structure, combining respins for collection with subsequent free spins, offers a dynamic bonus experience.
In-Game Dynamics: The base game primarily serves as a lead-up to the various bonus features, which are designed to be the main drivers of significant wins. The extreme volatility suggests that wins may be less frequent but potentially larger when they occur, especially within the bonus rounds.
Player Strategy: Given the extreme volatility and emphasis on bonus features, a common strategy might involve managing your bankroll to sustain play until a bonus round is triggered, or utilizing the Feature Buy option if available and within budget. However, no strategy can alter the inherent RTP of the game.
