How King of the Hill Works

King of the Hill is a challenge with one rule changed, and that rule changes everything. Reaching the target does not win it. Reaching the target makes you the king — and then a countdown starts, and you only collect if nobody knocks you off before it runs out.

The rules, precisely

• Hit the target to take the throne. A qualifying bet on the named game that reaches the target multiplier makes you the current king.

• Every new king resets the clock. The countdown restarts in full each time somebody takes the throne, so a busy round can run far longer than its nominal duration.

• You win by still being king when it expires. Not by getting there first — by being the last one standing.

• The minimum bet applies as usual, with the same 5% tolerance as any other challenge.

• The prize pool grows as people play. Every qualifying bet adds to what the eventual winner collects.

The strategic wrinkle is that being an early king is worth very little. Taking the throne when the round is quiet, close to the end, is worth much more than taking it while everyone is still playing.
